2014 Annual Conference of the American Society on Aging

A Circle of Care will present a 90-minute workshop “Problem-Solving Tools and Techniques for Navigating Aging Transitions” at Aging in America 2014 on March 12 at the Hyatt Regency in San Diego.

March 12-16, 2013

Pat Melzer, A Circle of Care and Roz Allina, San Diego Hospice presented two sessions at Aging in America 2013 in Chicago. The first was a Peer Group Session that facilitated a discussion among healthcare professionals and others on topics relating to end of life.

Pat and Roz also presented a workshop to aging-related practioners and family members that outlined the latest in hospice best practices, family caregiving, and issues relating to the transition from life-sustaining treatment to palliative-hospice care.

December, 2012

A Circle of Care and San Diego Hospice have been selected to present “Hospice 101: Best Practices and Bridging the Transition from Curative to Palliative Care” at Aging in America 2013 on March 14, 2013 in Chicago.

Pat Melzer Pat Melzer presented “Intergenerational Program Design: Lifelong Learning and Mentoring via igTutor, igCareers and igChat” at Aging in America 2012 in Washington D.C. on March 30, 2012.

As Baby Boomers begin to retire, a vast pool of knowledge and experience will be available for volunteering. At the same time, businesses across our country are finding a skills-gap resulting in unemployable young adults. This presentation describes a framework for inter-generational virtual tutoring: igTutor, igCareers, and igChat; designed to address the unmet needs of students, community colleges and businesses in a powerful way that will better prepare our students for a brighter future.
